Technical Sergeant (USAF Retired) Barry Lee Howard, 58, of Boerne, TX, the adored husband of Crystal, loving father of daughters Jamie Lynn Howard and Cherylyn Marie Howard, Peepaw to three grandchildren (Cherylyn) and doting dog-dad to Belle ”Mama”, Mila “Monkey”, and Willow “Bug” has passed away.
He drew his last breath on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX. His illness was brief and his death, unexpected. A loyal man, Barry will forever be remembered for his quiet and calm nature, kind heart and adventurous spirit.
Barry was born in Hershey, PA on July 22, 1964 to Barbara Ann Weaver (Doug Barnes) and Barry Jacob Howard (Marta). He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Barbara, grandparents Clair and Thelma Howard and Wilmer and Mabel Weaver.
Barry is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, father and step-father, and siblings: Brian K. Howard, Melinda K. Yeingst (Patrick), Shaun D. Barnes (Brandi), Geoff Howard (Patricia), and Judi L. Rossi (Brad).
Barry served in the United States Marine Corps, from October 1982, exiting as a Corporal in October 1986. Following in April 1987, he joined the United States Air Force until retiring as a Technical Sergeant in May 2003. After retiring from the military, he utilized his military specialty education in the Communications Computer Programming Craftsman field to work as a software database engineer. He continued to have a love for the United States military and was working for the Joint Trauma System at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston for 12 years before his passing.
A man of many hobbies, Barry enjoyed sports cars, with a love for Chevy Corvettes. An avid collector of bourbons, his competitive nature enjoyed many nights with best friends, Robert and Stephanie Luna and many video game battles with daughter, Jamie. As for his wife, Crystal, he was her number one supporter, “swole” mate during their many gym sessions, binge-watching couch potato pal, concert companion, and at the end of every day, her sanctuary.
While he left us suddenly, our memories with him will live on in our hearts.
