Aurora Castillo Ramos

Aurora was 96 years. She is the daughter of Fernando & Francisca Castillo, born in Laredo, Texas on Dec. 19, 1928. Raised with 3 brothers and 4 sisters, our mom comes from humble beginnings as a migrant worker to becoming a wife, factory seamstress worker, and a grandmother.

She is proceeded in death by her husband David, grandson Robert Steven, parents Fernando & Francisca Castillo, sisters - Ramona Ortiz, Rebecca Gallo, brothers - Juan, Paul, and Elias Castillo and her best friend Rosa Rangel.

Survived by her 5 children - Ernest (Anna), Rosa Nelda (Cris), Richard, Patricia, and Sylvia (Ramiro). 17 grandchildren, 27 gr-great grandchildren, and 3 gr-gr-great grandchildren. Sisters: Elizabeth Castillo Carrasco and Frances Castillo. Numerous nieces, nephews, and Great Aunt Mariana Guajardo and Sister-in-laws: Simona Castillo (Elias), Ruth Martinez (Manuel) and Amy Ramos (Amado).

Together with her husband, walking side by side as partners for life, they struggled and worked for what they could achieve. Education was important to both of them. Getting us through elementary, middle school, high school, and keeping the kids safe from harm was truly a challenge for them.

Like her husband David, she was truly proud of her grandchildren that followed their grandfather's military footsteps. Fernando and Joshua Ramos (Army/Navy), David and Michael Vieyra (Navy), Angel Marie and Ryan David Torres (Army), and Michael Martinez (Navy).

There are a few people that can fill the assignment of best friends forever (BFF). There were only 5 women that stood shoulder to shoulder with mom. Rosa Rangel, Lydia Cervantes Rios, Susie Coronado, Gloria Salas, and Elizabeth Castillo Carrasco - these brave women will always be in our hearts.

From the Ramos Family, I like to thank all that came to console my brothers and sisters. If you're able to make it tomorrow, please forgive us if we don't say thank you for coming.

Mom will truly be missed by all.

A visitation for Aurora will be held Monday, April 28, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home with holy rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. A mass of the resurrection will occur Tuesday, April 29, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
