On Wednesday, November 16, Alma Gomez, a beloved wife and caring mother of three, passed away in Pearland, TX, at the age of seventy-seven. Born in Alma, Michigan to Andres and Regina Anguiano, Alma spent most of her childhood in Breckenridge, Michigan. Alma went on to earn an associate degree from San Antonio College and graduated with a Bachelor of Education from Southwest Texas State Teachers College, where she met her life-long partner, Cipriano Gomez. After their joyful union, Alma earned a Master of Education from Georgia Southern University and dedicated her life to the dutiful teaching of others. Cipriano and Alma celebrated a marriage of fifty-three years and raised their family in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Alma most loved travelling and spending time with family, especially her five grandchildren, Monica, Dominic, Gavin, Carmen, and Robert, who will continue to honor her legacy of making tamales with loved ones. In her quiet moments Alma could usually be found working diligently on a word puzzle or watching her favorite crime show, while periodically “resting her eyes,” but never napping. She was proud, courageous, and loved. She is survived by her husband, Cipriano, their children, Paul (Michelle) Gomez, Robert (Maria) Gomez, and Veronica (Robert) Anderson, her siblings, Andrew (Mary) Anguiano, Frances (Fred) Mendoza, Arthur (Dorothy) Anguiano, and Linda Anguiano, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all who miss her dearly.
A visitation and Rosary will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Roy Akers Funeral Home, 515 N Main Ave, San Antonio, Texas. Her family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8 p.m.
