was born on September 1, 1947, to Clyde and Donnie Mae Langley in Texarkana, Texas.
Albert, or ‘Pops’ as he was affectionately called by his children and grandchildren, graduated from
Liberty-Eylau High School, and went on to Texas A&M University where he earned a degree in electrical
engineering in 1971. While in high school, he worked at an auto part shop and the cattle auction barn in
Texarkana.
After high school, he worked at the Red River Army Depot and Army Corps of Engineers.
Albert worked for seven years at the Texas A&M Department of Soils Research and later worked as
navigator on a seismograph ship for Mobil Oil Company from 1973 to 1984 when he retired. In
retirement Albert volunteered as a professional educational advocate in both Texas and Arkansas. He
continued to serve his community working as a substitute teacher for the Texarkana ISD, security officer
for Texas A&M-Texarkana, and as a Bowie County Deputy Sheriff for 21 years.
Albert also worked as worked as a political strategist serving as campaign manager for Arkansas State Representative Sue Scott - District 95 and for Bella Vista, Arkansas, Mayor Peter Christie in 2014. He happily opened his home to six exchange students from various countries over the years and was proud of the relationships he built with each one of them. He enjoyed spending time with his family, travel, photography, geography, research, politics, and telling stories about his adventures.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and first wife of 45 years, Brenda Hagler Langley.
Albert is survived by his wife of six years, Sue Langley of Boerne, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin
and Julie Langley of Shreveport, Louisiana; daughter, Kelly Liddekee of Bentonville, Arkansas; son-in-law,
Mike Liddekee of Bentonville, Arkansas; stepsons and daughters-in-law John and Carey Beasley of
Edmond, Oklahoma, and Chris and Deona Beasley of Casper, Wyoming; sister and brother-in-law, Ella
May and Donald Schellinger of Shreveport, Louisiana; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and JoAnne
Langley of Pocola, Oklahoma, and Edward and Beverly Langley of Nacogdoches, Texas; brothers-in-law
and sisters-in-law Larry and Bette Long of McKinney, TX, Gary Long of Haskell, TX, Pete and Carol Hagler of Longview, Texas, Gary and Linda Jackson of Texarkana, Texas, and Larry and Glenda Attaway of Texarkana, Texas; sixteen grandchildren including: Hannah M’Lyn Langley, Emily Clarissa Langley, Cooper Ian Liddekee, Chloe Isabelle Liddekee, Zachary Christopher, Jeremiah Evan Liddekee, Baileigh Beasley Galan and Joseph Galan, Bellamy Kate Beasley, Evan Bennett Beasley, Jackson Burke Beasley, Kayleigh Nicole Beasley, Katilyn Sue Beasley, Jeremiah Paul Beasley, James David Beasley, Jedidiah Isaiah Beasley, and John Christopher Beasley, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends; and special caregivers Cezar and Simona Amarandei of Boerne, Texas.
A graveside celebration service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Moores Chapel
Cemetery on Richmond Road at Airline Drive in Texarkana, Texas, under the direction of Kevin Langley.
Ceremony will be live streamed through Facebook for attendees who cannot travel due to Covid-19.
