Amos “Haygood” Wilson, Jr. entered rest September 14, 2011 at the age of 72. He was born in Atlanta, GA on September 28, 1938 to Willa Cason and Amos Haygood Wilson, Sr. The family moved to San Antonio in 1954 and he graduated from North East High School (now MacArthur High School) in 1956. He attended The University of Texas at Austin, studying business. Haygood was employed by Winn’s Stores Inc. for 40 years. He served his community as a fireman for the Windcrest Volunteer Fire Dept., Windcrest City Councilman, San Antonio Zoo Docent and was a member of the Windcrest Optimist Club. He will be remembered as the “turtle man” of San Antonio and for his love of hunting and the outdoors. Haygood is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Becky Wilson Marlatt. He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Blair Wilson and Leslie Ann Wilson; granddaughters, Caylee Nicole Forschner and Lindsey Ann Forschner; sister, Susan Wilson and his brother, Richard Allen Wilson. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 2:00pm, at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218.
