Ronnie Lee Robbins, 81, of Bronte passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022. He was born on February 14, 1941 to Carroll James & Lillian LaDellah (Kiker) Robbins. He attended Bronte High School with the Class of 1959. At the age of 18, he began his career in the gas pipeline industry with Transwestern Pipeline. He remained in that industry for more than 40 years. Ronnie married Carolyn Lois Averitt on July 7, 1962 in San Angelo. They had three children, Sherry Renee, Terry Michelle & Steven Lee.
After retiring, he returned to Bronte to do a little ranching on the family ranch at Hayrick. He enjoyed tending to his small herd of cattle and taking his grandkids out to feed with him. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church where he has served faithfully and was currently very active with the Salt of the Earth Food Ministry. He served on the Coke County Kickapoo Water District & Bronte Housing Authority boards for several years after returning to Bronte.
Ronnie’s greatest pride & joy were his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending all their activities. Whether it was ball games, high school rodeos or dance recitals. He especially enjoyed the opportunity to rope with the boys. He also loved getting to see and spend time with his little great-grandbabies when he could.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Carolyn; daughter, Terry Michelle Robbins; son, Steven Lee Robbins and twin great-grandchilden, Callen Lynn & Clara-Kate Lydia Jackson.
He is survived by daughter & son-in-law, Sherry & Darryl Jackson of Christoval. Grandchildren Kaleb (Alana) Jackson, Cody (Schelli) Jackson all of Colorado City, Kayce Jackson of Christoval and Brittny Robbins of Midland.
Great-Grandchildren Clark William Jackson, Calvin Hayes Jackson and Jaylee Renee Jackson. His brother, Alonzo Robbins of Bronte. As well as, several nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend, Mary McBrayer.
His humor & mischievous character will surely be missed.
Visitation with the family present will be on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the Methodist Church in Bronte from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. For anyone who would like to see Ronnie, he will be at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo. They will be open to receive visitors from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7. Services for Ronnie will be held at the Methodist Church in Bronte on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Hayrick Cemetery. Service will be officiated by Pastor Stacy Sprinkle and will be under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo.
