Robert Velasquez

Robert Urias Velasquez, 95, of San Angelo went to be with our Lord on January 17, 2023. Robert was born on August 9th,1927 in Ft. Stockton, Texas to parents Jose De La Lus Velasquez and Gregoria Velasquez. Robert joined the US Air Force and served his nation for three years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He then met the love of his life, Trine Velasquez, and after a whirlwind romance, they were married in Carlsbad, NM in 1951. They later settled in San Angelo, Texas in 1968 where they raised their four boys. Robert worked in the meat industry, both as a supervisor and later as a salesman. He finished his career as an inspector for the FDA before finally retiring. Robert was a devout Catholic, and could be found service his church either as a Eucharistic Minister or singing in the choir. Robert had a passion for golf, and when not playing, he was watching others play on television. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Lucila Franco, Ismael Velasquez, Ramiro Velasquez; his son, David Velasquez; and family dog, Bogey. He is survived by his wife, Trine; son, Charlie Velasquez and wife Patricia; son, Thomas Velasquez, and son, Arthur Martinez and wife Berta, and Marky, his beloved dog. In addition, Robert left behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as numerous friends. The family would like to give special thanks to Brittney Hoyt and Breiana Pena. The family also thanks all the staff at Shannon Hospital who cared for Robert in his final days. And special mention to Juan Salas. The rosary will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, January 23, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The interment will follow after the service at Calvary Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Gabriel Velasquez, Jonathan Gomez, Arthur Robert Martinez, Thomas Martinez, Joe David Alaniz and Jason Velasquez.
