Robert "Bob" Stanley Gilliam Jr. went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at his home in San Angelo, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was 91. He was born in Freestone County, Donie, Texas, to Robert and Ida Bell Gilliam. He was a longtime resident of San Angelo. He retired from Ponca Wholesale and was an avid supporter of San Angelo Central and Angelo State University athletics. He was married to Georgia Lucille Hunter on Feb. 8, 1947. The two were married for 67 years. Lucille had a beauty shop and became a full-time housekeeper and mother and Bob worked for Ponca Wholesale until he retired in 1986. Both were active members at College Hills Baptist Church for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Lucille Gilliam of San Angelo; son Dwain Gilliam of San Angelo; two grandchildren, Paul Gilliam of Lewisville and Caitlin Gilliam of San Angelo; his sister, Bobby Huffman of Austin; his sister-in-law, Beulah Gilliam of Donie; his two brothers, Wade Gilliam and his wife, Jean, of Richardson and Glyn Gilliam and his wife, Marty, of Graham; his half-sister, Robbie Faught of San Angelo; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Stanley Gilliam Sr. and Ida Bell Gilliam; his brothers, Noel Duane Gilliam and Cloner Gilliam; and his sisters, Adrid Bell, Vernice Strawn and Gay Mew. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at College Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Lakan Mariano officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, in Union Cemetery, Freestone County. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
