Patsy “Pat” Ruth Reed, passed away peacefully in San Angelo, TX at the age of 91, on Sunday, August 25, 2024, after a brief illness. Pat was born on October 27, 1932 in Camden, Arkansas, to Thomas Graham Milner and Dessie Dale Milner. She was the third of four children. Pat graduated from Watson Chapel High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, in 1950.
Pat married Bill Reed, on August 10th, 1951. She and Bill celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in August of 2023, four months before his passing. They began their marriage while Bill was still in the Air Force, stationed at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. After Bill’s discharge, they lived in Ft. Worth, Texas; Big Spring, Texas; Shreveport, Louisiana; back to Big Spring; Austin, Texas and then the last 17 years in San Angelo, where Pat would often say was the best place they had ever lived.
At the age of 25, she studied the word of God, and believing that Christ was the son of God, was baptized and became a Christian. She remained a faithful Christian all her life. She was a member of the 9th and Main church of Christ. One of her favorite things was teaching the 3-year-old Bible class. She and Bill led their children to Christ. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Early in their marriage, they would attend the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport with high school classmates “The Browns”, to see them perform on the Hayride. Pat loved to tell the story of meeting a very young Elvis Presley, and how she and Bill got to sit and visit with him before his turn to perform.
Pat began taking ceramic lessons in Shreveport, where she excelled, winning many awards including a “Freddie”, the highest award given in hobby ceramics. After moving to Big Spring in 1970, she began a very successful home business of teaching classes in ceramics and porcelain. After moving to Austin, she again opened classes and it wasn’t long before she had a waiting list of ladies wanting to take her classes. She gained many lifelong friendships teaching “the ladies”.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her brothers Graham Jr, and Dwayne, and her sister Peggy.
Pat is survived by her children and their spouses; Tom and Georgie Johnson; Deborah Carol (Debbie) and Glen Braswell; Donna and Rick Jenkins; and Dennis and Ginger Reed.
