Joe began his career at age 22, working and learning the furniture refinishing trade from Neal Sanders. Joe would later on become a self-made entrepreneur and eventually opened his own shop- Joe's Furniture Refinishing- which he ran for 50 years. When he wasn't running his place, Joe enjoyed spending his free time antiquing and coin collecting.
Joe was more than a hardworking professional. He met the love of his life, Christine, on Easter Sunday, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas. The two were later married on September 16, 1947. They had five children- two daughters and three sons.
Joe is survived by his wife, Christine Moya, daughter Glenda Chrane Bailey and husband Doyle, sons Joe K. Moya and wife Sharon, Michael Moya and wife Amelia, and Danny Jayme, brother Noe Moya and wife Florinda, and sister Lupe Gonzales and husband Felix. Also surviving Mr. Moya are nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, first born daughter Carolyn Kerby, two brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation for Joe will be held Friday August 10, 2018 from 5 PM - 7 PM, with a Rosary service at 7 PM at the Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 9 AM at the Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel and will be officiated by Pastor Jay Johnson. Burial will take place at Fairmont Cemetery following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Harley Chrane, Doyle Bailey, Ira Kerby, Noe Moya, Michael Bynum, Brownie Fisher, Bryan Moya, and Collin Moya.
The family would like to specially thank the ICU staff at Community Hospital, Dr. John Hunt, staff at Regency House, Brownie and Gayle Fisher, Dr. Sun, Dr. Graham, and Dr. Kirkland.
