Born on March 28, 1942, in Marlin, TX to Maria Castellano and Julian DeLeon. Janie was united in Holy Matrimony to Ismael Cardenas on February 14, 1986, and lived happily with him until his passing in 2002. She was a proud member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and had a passion for her Catholic Faith and her family. Janie often began each day by praying the Holy Rosary and spending time in devotion and meditation. Janie was a competent and dependable caregiver and housekeeper in private residences. Later in life she decided to offer her support for her family and began caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rosary will be Monday 6 p.m. in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be Tuesday March 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in San Angelo, TX.
She is preceded in death by her mother Maria Diaz, father Julian Deleon, husband Ismael Cardenas, daughter Mary Jane Gallegos, grandson Anthony Valenzuela, brothers Felipe DeLeon, Natividad DeLeon, Raymond DeLeon, and sisters Maria Sanchez and Elisa Carrillo.
Janie is survived by her children Jessie and Betty Sue Sanchez of Abilene, Julian and Ann Sanchez of San Angelo, Richard Sanchez of Wichita, Kansas, Sharon and Mark Rauscher of San Angelo, Virginia Cardenas of San Angelo, brother Julian DeLeon, sisters Virginia Ramirez, Severa Acosta, Catarina Puente, grandchildren Gracie and Robert Gonzales, Gabriel Gallegos, Valerie and Melissa Faz, Christi Reyna, Sabastian Reyna, Callie Sanchez, Marissa Sanchez, Gabriella Sanchez, Rosanne and Ruben Ramirez, Jessica and Brandon De La Rosa, Mark Rauscher, Alejandro Rauscher, Eryn Rauscher, Ashley Sanchez, Richard Sanchez Jr., Robert Garcia, Dimitrie “Jamie” Caldera, and Belladonna Garcia.
