John (Jack) McEligot, 82, passed away on November 8, 2024. Jack was born in Schenectady, NY on March 14, 1942. He grew up in Ithaca, NY and graduated from Ithaca High School and St. Bonaventure University. Jack was a FBI Special Agent for 25 years investigating organized crime, drug trafficking, corruption, and environmental crime while working in South Carolina, Michigan, and Upstate New York. After retiring from the FBI, Jack co-founded AMRIC Associates, a professional investigative agency in Syracuse, NY, the largest investigative and security provider in New York. Jack later moved to Daytona Beach, FL to start the Florida branch of his business and fulfill his lifelong dream of living on the beach. Jack enjoyed his time on the beach, watching live music, eating good food, and watching and playing sports. He was an avid Syracuse Orange, St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Red Wings, and Cleveland Browns fan.
He was the son of John P McEligot and Estelle (Lee) McEligot. Jack is survived by his sons Michael (Vangie) McEligot, Mark (Stacy) McEligot and daughters Michelle (Mike) Grosso, Kelly Higgins, Kimberly (Erik) Turner; his grandchildren Marissa (Jesus) Medrano, Steven (Vanessa) McEligot, Cayley and Caroline McEligot, Taylor, Sydney and Lauren Grosso, Gavin and Kenna Higgins; and his great grandchildren Mateo and Luca Medrano, Owen McEligot and soon to be born Amelia McEligot. Jack will be missed by all his family and friends. There will be no public memorial or funeral services at this time. Please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
