Consuelo "Connie" Rios

Consuelo “Connie” Gutierrez Rios, 56, of San Angelo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 10, 2018, in Houston, Texas. Connie was born to Jesus and Eva Gutierrez on November 8, 1961, in Hale Center, Texas. She graduated from Central High School in 1980, and went on to get her BA at ASU in 1984, as well as completing her MBA from ASU in 2000. She also earned her CPA license in 1988, which made her parents very proud. Connie married the love of her life, Gonzalo Rios, on July 8, 1995. During her working career, she worked for Mobil, GTE Directories, as well Sitel. Connie was proud of all of her accomplishments, but the one at the top of her list was being a mother. She gave up her career to raise her kids and volunteered constantly; from being a “bus” driver to producing the yearbook for Angelo Catholic School. She continued to guide her children (including husband) until her very last day on earth. Connie was strong in her Catholic faith and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She will be missed by all who knew her for the zest to live and her determination to see that her kids were cared for every day. Connie is preceded in death by her sister, Carmen Gutierrez, and three brother-in-laws, Jose P. Sosa, Roger Rios, and Laco Herrera. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gonzalo Rios; their two children, Jessica and Eric Rios; parents, Jesus and Eva Gutierrez, mother and father in law, Gonzalo Sr. and Tomasa Rios; her brothers and sisters, Roberto (Carolyn) Gutierrez, Delia Sosa, Betsy Herrera, Sylvia (Bob) Dill, and Luis Gutierrez, as well as her brother-in-laws, Phillip (Cindy) Rios and Salvador Sosa; sister-in-law, Elva (Danny) Duron and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. A Rosary service will be held at 8 PM, Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM, Thursday, February 15, 2018, also at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
