SAN ANGELO Connie G. Fowler, beautiful wife, devoted daughter, caring sister, loving mother and wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother, finished her race here on earth and flew with her Savior to her heavenly mansion, Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014. Connie was born Dec. 11, 1953, in Snyder, Texas, to Darrell and Margetta Black. She spent her early years in Snyder and then moved with her parents to begin her school years in San Angelo. She attended Travis Elementary, Washington seventh grade, Glenn Jr. High where she was an eighth and ninth grade cheerleader and finished at San Angelo Central High School where she was a member of the Tex-Anns. Connie worked for over 30 years in women's fashion, first in Midland and then San Angelo at many popular retail establishments, Jackson's, Mathis-Baze and finished her retail career at The Carriage. Connie was a woman devoted to her Savior, Jesus Christ and spent hours reading, studying and teaching about her Lord. Within the family, she was always the person to whom everyone looked to know the scriptures and to help them understand the ways of the Lord. Connie was a shining example of how to show God's love, expressing that love in every area of her life. Connie was preceded in death by her father, Darrell; and her son, Jeromy. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Steve Fowler; her mother, Margetta Black; her brother, Rodney Black and wife Rikke; her daughter, Jennifer Ensminger Johnson; her daughter, Cori Miears and husband Bryan; and daughter Pamela Hernandez and husband Junior. Also surviving Connie are her precious grandchildren who loved their Woowoo. They are Treasure Ensminger, Noah Johnson, Jaxon Johnson, Logan Miears, Madison Miears, Payton Miears, Coda Hernandez and Jonah Hernandez. The most precious was her newest addition, William Bentley Ensminger Rufenacht, great-grandson, born to her oldest granddaughter Treasure and Conner Rufenacht on Connie's birthday Dec. 11, 2013. Connie is also survived by her niece, Rikke' Flores and husband Isaac; her niece, Kylie Black; nephew Hayden Black; and two great-nieces, Kezlyn and Preslee. Our family would like to thank everyone at San Angelo Community Medical Center. The doctors, nurses, aides and everyone else were all so very kind and caring to Connie. Also, we would like to thank the doctors at West Texas Medical Associates, especially the wonderful people at Dr. Tamera Noack's office. And Dr. Stephen Coates, although for only a short while, you did your best to help her. And lastly, Hospice of San Angelo, you helped Connie finish her race with grace. You were all so wonderful and thoughtful in trying to help Connie deal with her illness. Service will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home with family visitation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, and celebration of Connie's life in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, with graveside service in Fairmount Cemetery.
