Carolyn Sue Nixon passed peacefully into heaven on Saturday Sept. 14, 2012. Carolyn was born Aug. 9, 1940, in Whiteface, Texas to Russell B. and Ada Lee Smith Nixon. Carolyn graduated from Texas Tech and began a teaching career that lasted until she retired in 2003. She became certified to teach Gifted and Talented children, a profession which gave her endless joy, and was a well respected pioneer in that field. Since returning to San Angelo she has enjoyed playing bridge and participating in her church. Particularly she enjoyed Bible study and dearly loved the enrichment of her faith and the many friends she made in pursuit of deeper knowledge of the Old and New Testament. Having no siblings, she loved the company of her many cousins, most of whom survive her. She is survived by Helen Nixon (aunt) and many first cousins as well as many close and dear friends. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Johnson's Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Jerry Roach officiating.
