Betty Sue was born May 16, 1943 in Mertzon, Texas to A.L. and Billie Louise Sawyer. Her daddy served in WWII and when he came home she wondered who that strange man was in the house. She attended Mertzon schools and shortly thereafter married Joe Everett. They had two children, Joleta Traylor of Sonora, Texas and Jody Everett of D’Hanis, Texas. She married Brent Gagneaux and they had one child, Surena Maresch of Ballinger, Texas. She married Jess Kolb and they made their home in Christoval. Her daddy, nephew Alan Harris, and Jess preceded her in death. Her mother lives in Christoval, Texas.
Betty Sue was a retired homemaker, currently living in Sonora, Texas. She is survived by her sisters Annie Lou Harris and husband Jimmy of Abilene, TX and Wanda Zamorano of Irving, TX; brothers Billy Louis Sawyer and wife Billie Faye of San Angelo, TX and Clyde (Bo) Sawyer and wife Susan of Ft. Stockton. Her pride and love were her grandchildren Nash and Monica Traylor, Ethan, Chy, Sage Everett and Dannie Davison, Hunter Wheeler and Jazlyn Maresch. She was also loved by numerous nephews, nieces and an uncle.
Betty Sue loved working with her hands…she could knit, crochet, cook…anything she chose to do. She shared her handiwork with so many. She loved country music and dancing. She traveled a lot with sister Wanda (aka Jean-Jean). Do they have stories to tell…or not. She loved chocolate…everything had to be chocolate.
Betty Sue was a twirler/majorette at Mertzon High…and so very good at it. Toward the end, Betty Sue had numerous health issues…she persevered and fought like a champ. That did not stop her from rooting for the Dallas Mavericks…she played basketball at Mertzon.
She enjoyed attending the Baptist Church in Christoval. She did love the Lord. What a participant in life…you will be missed…the memories will last forever…
