Adela was born in San Angelo to Jose and Maria Camarena. She graduated from San Angelo High School in 1949. After graduation, she worked at Wallace Studio until it closed. Following this, Adela worked for ASU for 4-5 years before moving on to Crockett Elementary in the cafeteria. Afterwards, Adela went to work for Goodfellow Air Force Base as a cook until retirement.
Adela was a very independent person who never married. She was the caregiver of her family, looking after her oldest sister. Adela was also a devout Catholic. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and served as a CCD teacher in her younger days. When she wasn’t working at the church or spending time with family, Adela enjoyed tending to her yard. She will be greatly missed.
Adela was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria Camarena; brother, Victor Camarena; sisters, Ofrosina Martinez and Ramona Segura.
Left to cherish Adela’s memory are her sisters Julia Santillan and Emilia Aguilar; brother, Jesse Camarena; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Jaime Aguilar, Javier Aguilar, Joe Camarena, Edward Segura, Jose Luis Segura, and Fernando Santillan.
The family would like to thank Dr. Viki Forlano and Gentiva Hospice for the love and care they gave Adela.
