Sandra Sutton Shipman was born December 3, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Robert Howard and Evelyn Carbis Dobson.
She is survived by her three sons Bob (Jeanine) Sutton, Rick (Michelle) Sutton, and Scott Sutton; two stepsons Geoff Shipman (Virginia) and Russell Shipman; one brother Bob Dobson; and two brothers-in-law Jerry Shipman (Diane) and Dave Canary (Bonnie). Sandra is also survived by her grandchildren Lindsey, Van, Zakk, and Noah Sutton; Tyler and Paxton Sutton; Denis, Daniel, and Dana Shipman; and a great-grandson Kade Sutton.
She spent her early life at First Congregation Church, Job’s Daughters, East High, Westminster College, and the University of Utah where she graduated with a Master’s degree in Special Education. She was a kind, empathetic, and generous person; and carried that same dedication into her Special Education career for 25 years at Washington Elementary.
She was involved with many organizations to include: P.E.O Sisterhood Chapter V, Phi Delta Phi, and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of First Congregational Church where she held many positions and sang in the choir. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and the Daily Jumble. She enjoyed playing the piano, the recorder, and listening to classical music.
Funeral services will be Thursday February 4, 2016 at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church. There will be a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. The interment will be at Mt. Olivet.
