Harry was born in Salisbury on September 24, 1939, the youngest of two children. He was the son of the late William “Billy” Harrison and Oneita Payne Cooper. He grew up in Eden and graduated from Wicomico High School. He received a B.S. Degree from the University of Maryland, in College Park, where he met and married his loving wife, Patricia Lee Cooper, of 60 years.
Harry worked for Westinghouse and NASA, before he returned to his childhood roots and joined his father in farming. Harry also received distinguished service for his time in the United States Coast Guard. As he reluctantly moved towards retirement from farming, he redirected his time with taking day trips to the beach, boating, fishing, or hunting along the Wicomico River. He also enjoyed the vast bouquet of hummingbirds attracted to his wife’s flower gardens and faithfully filled their feeders. Harry’s favorite way of expressing his heart was by spending time with his dog “Lady” and his cat “Kitty Gray” and sharing “tales” and produce from his beloved garden with his family, friends and neighbors. Harry honored his parents by staying connected to his childhood church, Allen Asbury United Methodist.
Harry is survived by his wife, Patricia Lee Cooper; and children, Andrew H. Cooper, Ginger L. Clark and husband, Daniel R. Clark, and Gary P. Cooper. He was a beloved Pop-Pop to his five grandchildren: Reece, Cooper, Garrison, Reagan, and Brice. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Littleton.
A private burial service with military honors took place on September 1st for the immediate family. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on September 24th at Allen Asbury United Methodist Church, Allen Maryland, with visitation available 30 minutes prior to the service.
