June Holden Bryant, 90, of Salisbury, went to live in eternal glory on Saturday, October 29th, 2022. Born July 26, 1932 in Washington DC, she was the daughter of the late John and Gladys (Robertson) Holden. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, C. Raymond Bryant, four sisters, and one brother.
June is survived by two children, Robert Bryant and his wife Lisa of Salisbury and Alison Sanford and her husband Larry of Easton; six grandchildren, Samuel Bryant and his wife Laura of Salisbury, Kathryn Engleman and her husband Timothy of Sterling Heights, MI, Ethan Bryant of Salisbury, Mimi Sanford of Easton, Andy Sanford of Easton, and Lily Sanford of Easton; her brother, Joe Holden of St. Augustine, FL; and a multitude of nieces and nephews who she adored. She loved her family dearly and was known for remembering everyone’s birthday.
June began her adult life as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines before graduating from nursing school at George Washington University. While raising her children in Schaumburg, IL, June worked as a hospital nurse and gained so much experience that she could work in any department on any floor, although Labor and Delivery was her favorite.
After her husband’s retirement, they moved home to Alexandria, VA, where she continued to work as a nurse until her retirement in 1992.
Ray and June eventually moved to Salisbury to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They became members of Bethesda United Methodist Church where June sang in the choir, served on several committees, and was a member of the Koinonians. She was also a member of PEO Chapter V, a philanthropic women’s group dedicated to ensuring affordable education to women in the community.
June loved to sing, camp, and play cards. She will be remembered as being kindhearted and effusive. And she never met a stranger, as everyone quickly became a friend. In short, life was more fun with her in it.
A memorial service for June will be held at a later date.
