Earl E. Wilson, Sr. 100, entered into the Grand Architect of the Universe, that house not made with hands, enteral in the heavens. February 25, 2021 He was born July 1, 1920 in Harcom, VA to Ethelbert and Mamie Wilson. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1940-1946 carrying supplies to Europe during WWII. He was a graduate of the US Maritime Academy at Fort Trumbull, CT as a Lieutenant in 1945 as an engineer. He served as Chief Engineer on many Liberty Ships, sailing to many ports around the world and later as a manager of Fish Products Repair Yard, Seacoast Products, and Eastern Marine of Salisbury. He retired in 1989 to enjoy traveling the country and visiting his grandchildren.
He was a 60 year plus member and Past Master of Wicomico Lodge #91, Scottish Rite 33rd degree, Boumi Temple, Eastern Shore Shrine Club, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and Eastern Star.
He is proceeded in death by his wife of 74 years Gloria Bryant Wilson who passed in June 2020.
He is survived by : son, Earl E. Wilson, Jr. (Donna) of Jacksonville, NC and daughter, Gloria Dale Brown (Malcolm, deceased) of Darien CT. Grandchildren: Wendy Caruso of Salisbury MD, Kerriann Illmensee (Russell) of Raleigh, NC, Jennifer Lockwood (David) of Charlotte, NC, Todd Latham (Debbie) Darien CT, Jenifer D’Allesandro (Ben), of Charleston SC, and Mathew Brown of Darien, CT. Great-grandchildren, Michael & Sarah Latham and Malcolm, Wolf, & Nova D’Allesandro and Allison Caruso.
He will be missed by the many people throughout the community for his generosity.
Masonic Rites and Memorial Service will be held at Siloam United Methodist Church, 26879 Siloam Road, Salisbury, MD on Saturday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donation in his memory can be made to Riverside Methodist Church, 608 Riverside Dr., Salisbury, MD 21801.
