Sean was born April 26, 1969 in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from high school in 1987 in Federal Way, Washington and immediately joined the Army. He trained as a combat medic in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. He later went to airborne school in Ft. Benning, Georgia then to Air Assault School and was stationed at 101st. Airborne division in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. In 1990 Sean was deployed to Saudi Arabia to serve in the Gulf War. In 1994 he went to 91C school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse where he graduated in 1995 and was then stationed at Weed Army Medical Center in Ft. Irwin, California. In 1996 Sean’s son Zach was born. Sean decided to end his military career in 1997 and moved to Oregon, where he worked as a nurse at various clinics, hospitals, and correctional facilities for 16 years. In 2007 Sean’s son Ryan was born. In 2013 Sean decided to switch careers and joined the Oregon Police Academy. After graduating, Sean served his community as a patrol deputy with the Marion County Sherriff’s Department, and then in 2018, he was promoted to Detective.
Sean enjoyed the outdoors, kayaking, hiking, and running races to include the Hood to Coast Team Race, and Cascade Lakes Race. He loved target shooting, hard rock music and collecting movies. His hobby of woodworking later became his trade.
Sean will be remembered for many things, but most importantly, his love for his two sons. He will also be remembered for his dry sense of humor, high intelligence, quiet yet confident demeanor, wood working and construction skills, and his affection for his dogs. He is survived by his two sons, Zachary, and Ryan Banks, and his two Australian Shepherds, Oliver and Emma.
