Roberta Lou Rogers was born to Nelson and Georgia Rogers on January 19, 1927, in Condon, Oregon. She passed away peacefully on September 19, 2021. Roberta was the third of five children and grew up in Salem. She was a member of the Salem High School Class of 1944 and faithfully attended Class of ‘44 luncheons and reunions.
After graduating from Eastern Washington University, she began teaching in Kelso, Washington. She spent her summers at the University of Denver in Colorado earning her library science degree. She moved back to Salem for good and became the school librarian at Leslie Junior High. She ended her 36-year career when she retired as librarian from Judson Middle School in 1985.
Roberta enjoyed spending time with her family and was a special “Auntie Toots” to numerous nieces and nephews. She loved trips to the beach, reading, cooking, calligraphy, book binding, knitting and fabric arts.
At Roberta’s request, she will be buried in her family plot near her mom, dad, and other family members at Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
