It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Spencer at the age of 77. Mark was born on October 14, 1947 in Salem, Oregon to Donald T. and Marjorie Spencer. He grew up in Salem, graduating from North Salem High School in 1965 and Chemeketa Community College in 1970. Mark met his wife, Madelyn, through a mutual friend while cruising the Hollywood District in Salem and they were later married on May 4, 1970.
Mark had a passion for fishing, boating, and photography, and was part of a pool league for many years. He grew up an avid musician, playing upright classical bass, and enjoyed listening to different genres from opera to rock. In 1995, Mark began working for and later retired from the Spirit Mountain Casino as a Slot Technician III. His career there showcased his technical skills and commitment to his work.
Mark is preceded in death by his wife, Madelyn Canzada Spencer in 2023. He is survived by his three children, Tony (Lisa) Spencer of Turner, Michael (Stacey) Spencer of Hebo, and Michelle (Lauren) Evanoff of Hermiston, three grandchildren, Bridget, Ethan, and Hayden Spencer, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennis Lundahl of Portland, and Cheryn Provost of Plain City, UT.
Services will be held on December 19th, 2024, at Belcrest Memorial Park, located at 1295 Browning Ave S in Salem. A viewing will begin at 10 am, followed by a memorial service at 11 am. Friends and family are invited to share memories and celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society in Mark’s name.
