Laura Sabrina Powell passed away unexpectedly at home In Salem, OR, on June 4, 2020 of natural causes. Born April 2nd,1962 in Bakersfield, CA, Laura lived a full life dedicated to her family and the Lord. She grew up living with her mother Janice, stepfather Joe Talarico and brother Joseph Kent Talarico in Southern California but also spent a great deal of time with her great grandmother Rilla Cotton in Sacramento, CA and also her grandparents Roy and Dorothy Kittock in Rapid City, SD.
Laura graduated from South Hills High School in West Covina, CA and attended American River college in Northern California, eventually settling for a time in Rapid City, SD where she met and married Darcy Lutz. This marriage resulted in four beautiful children - Ryan James, Christopher Allen, Madison Skye and Israel Jordan. The family moved from South Dakota to California since Darcy was in the Air Force. Eventually, after
Darcy left the Air Force, they settled in Utah for about 12 years. After her marriage ended, Laura and the children moved back to California and lived with her mother Janice for several years. Eventually, Laura settled in Salem OR with her 2 younger children where she lived the last 17 years.
As well as being a loving mother and faithful friend, Laura was a pioneer in many areas. She was a La Leche League Leader and helped many new mothers master the art of breastfeeding. She also was an early advocate of homeschooling and homeschooled her children for many years. Laura was a gifted musician who sang, played the guitar and flute - and especially enjoyed sharing her music on worship teams at her church. Wherever she lived Laura was always dedicated to serving the Lord and was involved in helping to grow the church communities she was a part of - especially the Vineyard Churches in Salt Lake City,UT, and Salem,OR, and Mountainview Faith Community Church in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. She most recently was a member of the Cornerstone Messianic Christian Congregation in Silverton, OR. She was known as a deeply devoted follower of Jesus Christ who loved the Lord with all her heart and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Laura was predeceased by her father Larry Powell and step father Joseph Talarico and is survived by her Mother - Janice Talarico, Sons - Ryan and wife Jasmin Lutz grandchildren Felicia and RJ Lutz, Christopher Lutz, Israel and wife Elsa Lutz grandson Asher, Daughter - Madison and husband Jordan Bentley grandchildren Teagan and Christopher Cooper, Brothers - Joseph Kent and wife Christina Talarico Son Joseph, Troy and wife Joyce Powell children Terry, Sammie, Austin and Cameron, “Adopted” Sister - Kathryn and husband Michael Ross children Taylor and Connor. Uncles - Tommy and wife Dianne Kittock, Glen Powell and wife Nancy, Aunts - Penny and husband Doug Cap, Mildred Powell - widow of Dathol, Peggy “Bee” and husband Richard, Doris and husband Jim, Fran and husband Bob as well as many dear cousins.
The family would like to thank Mark Hatch, for his wonderful support and assistance to Laura.
They are also grateful to Northwest Rehabilitation Associates for their rehabilitative services.

Graveside funeral services will take place on Friday, June 12,2020 at 11:30 am at Belcrest Memorial Park Salem, OR.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
