Kathleen Ann was born on January 22, 1937, in Denver, Colorado to John and Ruth (Wilson) Brazelton, where she grew up on a farm. The beautiful and vivacious Kathy loved riding around the farm on horses with her father and her sisters, Marilyn and Virginia.
When it came to school, Kathy was a natural learner, who constantly amazed her teachers with her intellect. At the age of 18, after graduating from high school, Kathy chose to go to University of Northern Colorado where she majored in early education. She graduated at the top of her class in 1959.
Kathy taught first and second grades for 33 years, where she was not only a student favorite, but also a parent favorite, due to being able to reach the children at their level. Creating a reading program for elementary school children brought her acclaim, where she was given an award in 1978 for her efforts.
Kathy was happily married to her husband Harold M. Daron. She is the mother of Brian (Christina), and Kevin (Judy). She absolutely loved being a mother and maintained an exceptionally close relationship with both boys throughout their entire life. She was the proud grandmother of Sarah Post from San Diego, California and Jonathan McCord (Brittaney) from Maricopa, Arizona. She was the exceptionally excited great grandmother of Ava Lewis 9, Aria Post, 4, Finn, 2 and soon to be born Archie. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, and her previous husband, James Shelley.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen Funeral Home, Salem, Oregon on Friday, July 23, at 1:00pm. Kathy will be laid to rest at Restlawn Memory Gardens.
