Arthur joined the Navy at sixteen and spent 7 years as a gunners mate, earning a Purple Heart and seeing the world.
After leaving the Navy, Arthur worked in the mining industry, then as a machinist in the lumber industry until an injury forced him into early retirement. He spent many years on the Oregon Coast, fishing and hunting - his favorite past times.
After his wife Alice passed away in the late 1990's, he met and married Helen Ensor. They lived in Beaver, Oregon until eventually moving back to Salem to be closer to family. Art and Helen enjoyed many years of retirement until her passing in 2014.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, (Teddy Mack Kidd, Tommy Olin Kidd, Robert Kidd, Richard Kidd, and Bennie Kidd and John David Kidd and one sister, Twyla Simpson)
Survivors include three brothers, James E Kidd, Hutchinson, Kansas, Clyde Kidd, Haven, Kansas and Donald and Nelda Kidd, La Mirada, California and one sister, Imogene Trammell, Hutchinson, Kansas, Sandra Meurer, daughter.
Visitation will be at Howell Edwards, 1350 Commercial St SE, Salem, Oregon Monday July 2, 2018 11am - 4pm.
Funeral services will be Tuesday July 3, 2018 at Willamette National Cemetery, starting at 10:30am
