Elliot Hershoff

Elliot Hershoff– of Peabody, formerly of Roxbury, entered into rest on Sunday evening, October 6, 2024 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Doris (Yonis) Hershoff with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Abraham and Bessie (Sochin) Hershoff.

Elliot was a proud member of the United States Army National Guard and the Jewish War Veterans. He was also a Past Grand Chancellor Commander of the Knights of Pythias and a dedicated member of the Mount Tabor Lodge, Ipswich. Elliot was the Temple President for Congregation Tifereth Israel in Peabody for eighteen years. Elliot was an active member of the Friends of the Senior Center in Peabody.

In addition to his wife Doris, Elliot was the devoted father of Randy Hershoff and his wife Hannah of Cranston, RI, Ronda Middleton and her husband Bruce of Rockport; cherished grandfather of Bradley Thompson and his wife Bethany and Aaron Thompson and his wife Kathleen (Molloy) Thompson; dear great grandfather of Dylan, Ryan and Emma Thompson and loving brother of the late Irving Hershoff, Madeline Tanzer and Lillian Kasarjian.

His funeral service was held at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, Salem, MA on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Elliot’s memory to Congregation Tifereth Israel, 8 Pierpont Street, Peabody, MA 01960.
