Elijah was a devoted father to David Fishelson and his wife Cheryl, Susan Masiello and her husband Nick, Debra Panneton and her husband Jeff, and the late Stephen Fishelson. He was a loving stepfather to Melissa Visentin and Adam Visentin.
He was the cherished grandfather of Leah Schmitz, Seth Fishelson, Lauren Martinez, Natasha White, Nathan White, Jessica Conley, and Phylicia Fishelson, and Alana Panneton. Elijah was a proud great-grandfather to Madison and Carlie King, Owen and Kali Fishelson, Mia, Alexa, and Cameron Martinez, and Prestyn and Paityn Fishelson. Elijah was also the great-great grandfather to Enzo.
He was the dear son of the late Rebecca Lando Fishelson and Max Fishelson, a dedicated cousin to Joseph Gordon, and a loving uncle to Jeanne Carlisle. He was also the beloved brother of the late Sylvia Wolff.
Elijah passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by family.
Born and raised in Boston, Elijah was part of the family business, Fishelson the Florist on Charles Street, from a young age. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Boston University, where he joined ROTC and was a member of the Scabbard and Blade Society. He served as captain of the rifle team and participated in crew. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, stationed at Ethan Allen Air Force Base in Burlington, VT. In Burlington, he met his first wife, Joyce, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. After completing his military service, they moved to Swampscott, where they raised their children. Elijah rejoined the family florist business and continued his military service by accepting a commission as First Lieutenant in the Massachusetts Air National Guard.
Elijah had a great love for sailing, and he was often seen launching his catamaran from Fisherman’s Beach in Swampscott. Elijah and his wife Gail enjoyed traveling extensively, visiting destinations across the U.S., as well as London, Paris, Cannes, Bermuda, the Caribbean, and Canada.
