It wasn’t easy to keep track of all of Beverly Clark’s accomplishments. She was a beloved classroom teacher, a skilled music teacher and child neuropsychologist: numerous young people benefited from her teaching and counseling. She was a brilliant flutist, and, along with her husband Bill, the founder of a symphony orchestra, Symphony by the Sea, a cultural gem of Marblehead and the North Shore. She was a wonderful gardener and home chef, to which any of her family and friends can attest.
Her family, and those friends, were numerous, and she counted them as her most valued possessions. Her three children and six grandchildren were the center of her world, and her friends came from every quarter of her life. She had friendships that went back to the first grade, to high school, college, to every job she ever had. She had great friends from her neighborhood, from her synagogue. When Bev talked about her children and grandchildren, she wasn’t boasting; she was simply kvelling, feeling pride. And if you were fortunate enough to be her friend, you came to value the way she lit up with enthusiasm whenever she spent time with you, whether chatting while walking your dogs, eating out at a favorite restaurant, or just talking on the phone.
Beverly died Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, Massachusetts.
