Catherine (Cathy) Elizabeth Connolly-Farren, age 77, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024, in Ponte Vedra, Florida. Cathy gracefully endured a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and was surrounded by her loving family when she went home to the Lord.
Born on February 10, 1947 in Quincy, Massachusetts, Cathy was a cherished resident of Weymouth, Plymouth and Carver, MA for most of her life before moving to Ponte Vedra, FL, in the last year of her life. She was the beloved daughter of the late John Nash Connolly and his wife, Mildred (Millie) Catherine Connolly of Weymouth and Bridgewater, MA.
Cathy's life was marked by her devotion to her family. Her children, Lisa Anderson and her husband Brian of Ponte Vedra, FL, Michael Farren and his fiancée Michelle Burns of Davenport, FL, and Jamalyn Christian and her husband Brian Sr. of Plymouth, MA, were the center of her world. She was a proud grandmother to Joey Farren and his wife Mackenzie, and their children Jasmine & Oliver, Haylee Cavanaugh and her husband Andrew, and their son Jace, Brian Christian Jr. and his fiancée Jesse Aldridge, Katelyn Beal and her son Grayson, Jack Christian, Carina Anderson, Holly Anderson, Lily Christian and her fiancé Jake Egan, and Phoenix Farren and his fiancée Allie. She is survived by her life partner, John Syria of Carver, MA, and her ex-husband, John Farren of Port Orange, FL.
Cathy is survived by her siblings: Marie Queeney and her husband Daniel of Scituate, MA, Robert Connolly and his wife Janet of Bridgewater, MA, Linda Meade and her husband Bill, Diane Murray and her husband Phil, and Paul Pacheco and his wife Debbie. She leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews: Keith, Geoff, Jason, Jeanine, Robbie Jr., Billy, Jonathan, Paul, and Matthew.
In addition to her immediate family, Cathy leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and her cherished memories will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Cathy's passion for teaching and the Spanish language led her to study Education and Spanish, earning a Bachelor’s degree from Boston University (formerly Boston State College). However, instead of pursuing a career in teaching, she chose to dedicate her life to her family as a devoted wife, partner, and mother. She found immense joy in raising her three children and later supporting them as they raised her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, Cathy worked in the Accounting division for the town of Weymouth, MA, and enjoyed a successful tenure as an Avon representative, always keeping a large stock of products at home.
Cathy never missed an opportunity to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and weekends with her loved ones. She cherished her time spent vacationing in Aruba with her friends and family. She also enjoyed spending time at the American Legion in Plymouth, sharing a story and a laugh with those around her. Her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on through all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Cathy on October 12th, 2024 at the South Meadow Village Clubhouse in Carver, MA at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The Duxbury House Activities Program ( we can provide info on how to donate) where the donations will help provide enrichment to residents living with Alzheimer’s. The family feels the direct impact of helping a local care facility is more meaningful than a nationwide organization. Also, Cathy’s daughters recommend buying the book “ Reversing Alzheimer’s” by Dr. Heather Sandison and spread the word on social media. “ An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”
