I had the privilege go growing up with Wes and just learned of his passing.  My prayers go out to his family.

To the family of Wes Simmons, I wish to extend my heartfelt sympathy and prayers to each of you. I was a classmate with him from grammer school on to high school. I remember him as funny and the greatest smile and laugh. God Bless you and yours, Donna (Grant) McMain

Dear Sandy, David and Emily:  there are not words to describe my sadness at the loss of my dear friend, Wes!  I loved him like a brother and will miss him more than words could ever say.  My wife, Susan, has ALS (Lou Gehrigs) disease, and I cannot leave her for any extended period of time.  That is why I was unable to attend the memorial service for Wes.   You are all in my thoughts and prayers.  Rest in peace, dear Wes, until we meet again.  Sandy - if you see Betty Scott, please tell her hello for me, and if she gets a chance, to give me a call at 916-768-3168.  Thank you, Sandy.

Dan and I were so saddened to hear that Wes had passed away. We go back a long way. He was always such a nice person and will be missed by all of us from the class of '63.

Dear Sandy, David, and Emily. When I think of you, all I can think of is what an incredible family Wes and Sandy created. This is one of the most important, if not the most important, legacies in life. And his legacy continues with Sandy and with Emily and David and their families. What incredible roots he gave to not just you kids, but to those you and your children will touch in your lives. Pretty neat.

Dear Sandy, Liz and I are saddened to read that Wes has passed away.  He was one of the good guys in real estate and a great neighbor.  We will miss him.

Sandy, David, Emily and family, We are deeply saddened over the loss of Uncle Wes.  I will always remember the handle bar bike rides he gave me as a young child when visiting Grandma and Grandpa and in later years the family swim and BBQ get-togethers.  After we moved to Sacramento from Hawaii, Terry has wonderful memories of Wes teaching him racquetball.  They played many times and Wes was a fierce competitor.  He had the best smile, wonderful jokes, great wisdom and the best laugh that will stay with me always.  He will be forever missed, but in our hearts forever.  Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our heart felt loss for our precious young family member.  Memories took me back years.  When Wes was 5/6 years old and I 12/13, I would take him to the only movie in Oroville. For fifty cents, we would go to the Saturday morning matinee at 8:00 a.m. and stay until 5:30 p.m. before the night movies started.  We would fill up on popcorn and lots and lots of candies! Years later, when he was 12, he was our official music man(accordion) at our wedding in Oroville.  We know now he is free of pain and will be playing his music when we next meet. My deepest sympathy to all of Wes's family.  Wes was the first person I met when I moved in across the street from Sandy and Wes.  He always had a great smile and kind words and was always willing to help!  He will be greatly missed as he brought sunshine to our street. But we can still see Wes in little Isaac. Love you Sandy and keeping all of you in my prayers.  My door is always open for you - day or night.

We met Wes through his grandchildren. The first time they came to look at our school, both he and Sandy sat on our couch with their daughter Emily and lent their support as she shopped for the perfect place to help raise their 1st grandchild. We bonded very quickly around a common cause, his  grandson Adam. Wes's LOVE for his family was all that we ever talked about over the years. He wanted to be sure his grandson KNEW who his grampa was. Over time there was a second grandchild here. Wes called him Little Isaac. Every time Wes mentioned his grandsons, there was love in his eyes. We talked often about how fearful Wes was of these two young grandsons 'not knowing who I am' and I always reassured him that we would do whatever we could to keep his memory alive in these two beautiful boys. All of those times that Wes and Sandy came to get one or both of the boys was a deliberate act of LOVE. Even when Wes was not feeling well, he would try his best to spend quality time with his family. Wes Simmons you will always be remembered as a LOVING grampa, a kind soul and a sweetheart of a human being. Your physical presence will be greatly missed here at The Playhouse. We will never forget the LOVE you have for your family and will continue to share your memory with Adam, Isaac and the baby that will soon be joining your family. We will keep your memory alive in our words, photos and stories so that all of your grandchildren KNOW who you are and just how much you LOVE them.

Dear Sandra, my heart felt condolences for your loss.  We have never met, at least that I'm aware and I'm forced to visit  my 1961 yearbook when LP and Oroville were still one school.  Wes and I competed for the same football position.  Coach Johnny Johnson had us  lie on our backs, head-to-head and on his call we would roll over gain our footing and crash into eachother to determine which of us would gain that position.  To tell you the truth, I don't recall which of us won, but I do remember the dedication and fight with which he whole heartedly gave it his best.  I'm sure that was indicative oh his character trait that he would exhibit the rest of his life.  If you have that yearbook, you'll find me, #48, right behind Wes with Richard Anderson to his left.  He was a valiant competitor then just as I'm sure he was the rest of his life.  We went untied and undefeated that year and I would  like to believe he was undefeated in life. I am so sorry to hear that Wes passed away. We went to Oroville High together. I saw him at class reunions over the years and was fortunate enough to reconnect with him on FaceBook. What I remember most was his sense of humor and kindness. And he adored his kids and those precious grandsons. I told him they look just like their grandpa. 
I am very sad that Wes is gone but I will never forget his smiling face.

Dear Sandy, I will always remember Wes and the very wise advice he gave me when our children were young. I can hear him telling me that "We give our children roots and wings". He was a wonderful neighbor. He taught his children and grandchildren WELL. He loved life and his family dearly. His memory will live on in his grandsons! Susan Angelis
