Mary Catherine Mehl of El Macero passed away on June 10, 2012 in Sacramento after a long illness. Born in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan on March 12, 1944 to Veronica and Peter Molloy, Mary was the youngest of three children.
Mary grew up in Minnesota, graduated high school from the Academy of the Holy Angels, and then attended St Cloud State University. Mary worked several years as a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines. She later became a Communications specialist and Human Resource Manager with Rolm/IBM and Siemens, from where she retired after twenty years of service. She then worked four years as an ombudsman for the California Department of Aging.
Mary lived in Minnesota, Colorado, and finally California where she has resided in El Macero since 1989.
Mary is survived by her husband James Franke; her first husband Joseph Mehl of Phoenix, AZ; their daughter Lisa Anderson, husband John Anderson and grandchildren Jack, Miles, and Taylor Anderson; her brother Peter Molloy of El Paso, TX; and her sister Patricia Wilcox of Sonoma, CA.
The memorial to honor Mary will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Harry A. Nauman & Son Land Park Funeral Chapel, 4041 Freeport Blvd in Sacramento. Donations in her name may be made to the local Alzheimer’s Aid Society, 2641 Cottage Way #4, Sacramento 95825; or online at www.alzaid.org.
Her love for animals, gardening, volunteering, exercise, chocolate, wine, fine food, travel, friends, family and laughter will be remembered by all who knew and loved Mary.
