Lester was born on January 30, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri to Lawrence Clifford Hunter and Ethel Green. He retired from Oakland Naval Supply Center after sustaining a traumatic back injury to save a fellow co-worker’s life. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war and served in the Navy and was awarded Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was dedicated and committed to a life of service, serving in various ministries: Usher Board and Missions ministries at Progressive Church of God & Christ.
Lester is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Clifford Hunter.
Lester is survived by his wife, Twila Hunter; mother Ethel Green; children Lawrence L. Hunter Jr. (Tootie), Sonya M. Davis (William), Maurice H. Hunter (Carolyn), Sherry A Hunter, Sedale L. Hunter (Jelana), Eric Rand-Willis and Sparkles Rand-Willis, Grandchildren; Kevin A. Warthan II, Talesha Hunter, Destiny Hodges, Monaiza Hunter, Chris Warthan, Brittany Hunter, Andre Watson, Semaj “Jason” Moore, Eric Rand-Willis Jr., Cire Rand-Willis, Lyric Carruthers, Mackaila McCraw, Mackenzie McCraw, Mackairah McCraw, Sadiia Hunter, Sadale Hunter Jr., Jersey Adams, Serenity Hunter, sisters; Carolyn Hunter and Ethel Mitchell and numerous great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, best-friends (Ricky and Jerome) and a host of friends.
Lester’s homegoing services will commence at 9AM on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Harry A. Nauman & Son Funeral Home in Sacramento, California followed by internment at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California. Due to the COVID requirements, we ask that every attendee wear a mask and stay home if you experience a fever, cough or generally, aren't feeling well as required by the State of California.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Hunter JR, Maurice Hunter, Eric Rand-Willis, Cire Rand-Willis, Kevin Warthan II and William Davis.
We will miss Dad dearly but rejoice in his freedom and resting in the arms of God.
