John passed away peacefully with his family at his side. John was born in Monterey, California. John’s family later moved to Sacramento where he graduated from John F Kennedy High School in 1969. John began his career as a civilian employee with the United States Department of the Air Force where he worked for twenty years in the electroplating shop, retiring in 2000. After his early retirement John worked as a security guard for various Sacramento agencies before fully retiring in 2010.
John’s greatest joy was his family, he truly loved his three children, never missing a school or sporting event. John could be seen at their soccer, little league and girl’s softball games. When John wasn’t on the chain gang at Johnny’s football games, he was at Antonia and Krystina’s softball games cheering them on. In his spare time John enjoyed working on classic cars restoring them to pristine condition. John’s second love was his 1940 Ford Hot Rod, a favorite ride for family and friends.
John is survived by Geri, his loving wife of 31 years; his cherished children Antonia, Johnny and Krystina; mother Josephine Romeo; brothers Salvatore and Joseph Romeo; nieces Christine Romeo-Fagan and Aimee Romeo and was preceded in death by his father Ernest “Nesto” Romeo.
