Jeannie Shepherd passed away in her home at the age of 108 on the evening of September 15th, 2020, surrounded by her grandsons and great-granddaughters. She was born on February 16, 1912, in Aberdeen, Scotland, and immigrated to Sacramento in 1948. She was an accomplished Scottish Highland dancer and instructor and was active in the Scottish community for many years.
Jeannie was the last of eleven siblings and was preceded in death by her two daughters Irene Barmby and Myra Sharp, and her husband, Tom Shepherd.
She is survived by four grandsons: devoted caregiver Ron Sharp, Ian Sharp, Brian Norling, and Brad Norling, seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, son-in-law Ron Sharp, and other relatives around the world.
She will be remembered for her fiery spirit, slightly inappropriate sense of humor, love of dance, fondness for Port and countless hours spent watching golf on television.
She will be interred with her husband at East Lawn Cemetery in a private ceremony for immediate family.
