Charles Paul Gilliam passed peacefully July 17th, 2022, with family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of over 58 years, Haruko; son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Manya; granddaughter, Kristina; sister, Ellen; and many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, he joined the United States Air Force soon after high school at the age of 19. He served over 22 years in the military and another 20 years for the US Postal Service. Charles enjoyed work and didn't believe in calling out sick. He was a hard-working and honest man who worked extremely hard for his family.
His passions & hobbies included listening to music, watching sports and attending church. He loved Jazz music and the family remembers the sounds of Thelonious Monk, Ray Charles, Miles Davis and others wafting throughout the home as he listened to some of his favorites. He loved to watch football, baseball, and basketball, rooting for the Baltimore Ravens or the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL and the Sacramento Kings in the NBA and the Baltimore Orioles in the MLB. Charles loved the Catholic Church and attended regularly, sometimes daily after his retirement. He attended St. Paul Catholic Church for over 30 years and found solace in the Lord.
