He was born in Rumford on December 9, 1917 a son of Maria (Guilmette) and John Belanger Sr. He married Lillian Austin on November 15, 1943. She passed away in 1990.
John was employed for 40 years with Oxford Paper and Boise Cascade and was a member of their 25 and 40 year club.
He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, and was also a life member at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a member of the Citizen Conservation Corps.
John loved to play the harmonica and the banjo.
Surviving are two daughters, Roberta J. Day and husband Charles of Brunswick, MD and Mary Ann Murphy and husband Bill of Mexico; a sister Theresa Fitzmorris of Auburn; six grandchildren, Keith, Kelly, Dawn Marie, Christine, Shawn and Denise; and five great grandchildren, Alex, Mariah, Cecilia, Dominic and Wesley.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Lillian, and infant son Robert John Belanger, a brother Paul, and two sisters, Arthemise, and Jeannette.
