He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on October 5th, 1956, to Moses Richmond Davis Jr (“Skip”) and Jeanne (Poth) Davis. Shortly after his birth, Jeff and his parents moved to Hanover, Maine where Jeff resided for the remainder of his life. Jeff was the eldest of three children and spent most of his childhood years at the farm where he began learning skills from elder role models, such as Tink Brown, that helped him become the “Jack of all trades” that he was. He especially enjoyed learning to log with his favorite workhorse, Diamond.
Jeff held many different jobs beginning at a very early age starting with working at the Thurston farm, Roberts’ Poultry Farm, haying, carpentry work with his father, welding, pipefitting, trucking up and down the East Coast, owning and operating the Trails End Motel, maintaining properties as a landlord, as well as building from the ground up a successful logging and equipment company that has been in operation for over 45 years.
Married in the fall of 1986 to Pamela Mickeriz for 22 years, they raised three children together who were his proudest accomplishments. Jeff took pride in providing for his family and passed on his strong morals, work ethic, life principles, and faith in God to his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated father and grandfather who loved his family and closest friends deeply.
Jeff was a well-known member of the local community and always went out of his way to help those in need. He was a dependable and honest man who strived to maintain the integrity of the Davis name. He spent many years making memories with his longtime companion, Pamela Berry, of Andover, Maine and their adopted dog, Forrest. With a great love for the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. His favorite place on Earth was at his camp. Despite it only being accessible by boat, he managed to remodel the camp with help from family and friends. What most would describe as impossible, he eventually organized and helped to accomplish one of his long-term goals of building a 3.5-mile road over rugged terrain into the camp.
Our dad will always be remembered for his logical advice, ability to make his friends and family laugh, affectionately creating unique nicknames for all he loved, and encouraging everyone to find the positive in difficult situations. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, however he will live on in the hearts of his children.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Skip, but will be greeted by many friends and extended family in Heaven.
He is survived by his mother, Jeanne, of Oregon; brother Dale Davis and wife, Kathy, of Turner, ME.; sister, Sharon and husband, Jim Olson; and nieces, Stephanie and Kimberlie of Oregon. He is also survived by his daughter, Kasey and husband, Curt Senita and grandchildren, Trent and Leona of Erie, PA.; son, Jared Davis, of Hanover, ME.; daughter Emily and husband, Ryan Burkhart, grandson Weston, and soon to be born granddaughter, Millie, of Saco, ME.
Friends and family are called to gather for visiting hours on Wednesday, January 17th, from 3-6pm, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at Thibault Remembrance Center located in Rumford, Maine.
