Claire Anne Perry

South Paris, ME – Claire A. (Bernard) Perry, 88, formerly of East Bethel, ME passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Maine Veterans Home, South Paris. She was the wife of the late Donald “Vic” Perry, who died on April 5, 2019, they were married for sixty-three years.

She was born in Rumford, ME a daughter of the late Joseph & Emma (Gaudet) Bernard. She grew up in Rumford, attending local area schools and graduated from Stephens Memorial High School. After high school she attended St Vincent’s Nursing School in CT an obtained her Nursing Degree.

Claire worked as an RN her entire career, starting at Bridgeport Hospital in CT and finishing her career at Rumford Community Hospital. She enjoyed knitting to pass the time and she and her husband would play cards on a daily basis.

She is survived by her two daughters Cynthia L. Simmons and her husband Stephen of East Andover, ME and Susan E. Swasey and her husband Barry of Andover, ME. She also leaves three grandchildren Kier Simmons and his wife Natalie, Eric Swasey and his wife Andrea and Katherine Benson and her husband Jeffrey; as well as five great granddaughters Violet and Eve Simmons, Avery and Adalyn Swasey and Lauren Benson. She was also the mother of the late Timothy Perry, who died in 1970 and sister of the late Richard Bernard and Jean Doherty.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire nursing staff at Maine Veterans Home in South Paris, your care and kindness will not soon be forgotten.

A private graveside service will be held in early Spring at St. John Cemetery, Rumford.
