She was born in Rumford, Maine on June 12, 1935 a daughter of Joseph S. and Octavie (Goulet) Collette.
Carmel was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephen’s High School Class of 1953.
She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.
Carmel married John Rioux on August 18, 1956, together they celebrated 48 years of marriage, he passed away on December 29, 2004.
She was a former member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Carmel loved knitting and family trips to Canada.
The most precious thing in her life was family.
Surviving are her children; Susan Rioux of Rumford, June Hyjek and husband Peter of Willington, CT; and Jack Rioux and wife Lori of Winthrop; two sisters, Jeanne Collette of Rumford, and Louise Mangarelli of Rumford; a brother, Maurice Collette; six grandchildren, Jenifer, Jason, Jacob, Jonathan, Amber and Andy; five great grandchildren; and two nephews Mike and Matt Mangarelli.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, and two sons, James and Joseph, a granddaughter Jo-Ann, a sister Yvette and a brother Roland.
