Wallace Robert “Bob” Watson of Marietta, GA was born September 3rd, 1943, in Corvallis, OR. Bob went to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of seventy-four on April 22, 2018. He is predeceased by his mother, Sara Rice Watson (Anderson, SC), John Ernest Watson & Wallace Robert Cheves, fathers, Gordon Blackwell Sr, brother-in-law, Bill Cheves, half-brother and Eugene F. Blair Sr, father-in-law. Surviving are his wife of forty years, Janice Blair Watson and three daughters, Shelly (Judson) Hill, Rhonda (Chris) Sumsky, Melody (Jon) Richard, and one son, Brian (Jennifer) Watson. GrandBob is survived by sixteen grandchildren: Judson Jr, Joshua and Anneliese Hill; Christopher (Amanda), Aaron (Samantha), Savannah (Michael McCard), Caleb, Caden, Adelaide Sumsky; Nathan, Andrew, Matthew, Lily Kate Watson. Bob is also survived by two sisters, Cecilia Watson Blackwell and Charlotte Watson Wilkes, one brother Cecil (Bettye) Cheves, our 100 year old Grandmother, Reva Sivley Blair and twelve nieces and nephews. Bob, Dad, Bobby, GrandBob, BobBob, DaddyWoof, Brother Bob, Uncle Bob enjoyed growing up in Anderson, South Carolina and Sarasota, Florida. He graduated from Sarasota High School in 1961 and then went on to further his education obtaining a degree in Finance and MBA from Florida State University. He proudly served our country as a United States Army Captain serving in Vietnam and then spent over thirty years in the beverage industry with The Coca-Cola Company and Bottlers. His favorite hobbies were playing golf, tennis, bridge, body surfing in the Atlantic Ocean, playing games with grandkids, and watching the Atlanta Braves and FSU football. Most of all, he loved giving back to others serving as a Deacon at Johnson Ferry Baptist in Marietta, feeding those in need at MUST Ministries, serving as a Lay Leader for the Walk to Emmaus ministry, and ministering to others while playing golf with Witness Breakthrough Ministries and providing weekly devotions to the elderly at the ManorCare Assisted Living facility. We will celebrate his life on Friday, May 4th at 9AM at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church Chapel, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta GA 30068. Reception to follow.
