Susan was born to William and Erna Haynes in Munich, Germany on September 10, 1957. Early in her childhood, the family settled in the Atlanta area where Susan attended Chamblee High School and earned a business degree from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. Susan enjoyed a long, successful career as an insurance underwriter and risk consultant for industry leaders.
She leaves behind a shocked and grieving family. Susan was a cherished and loving daughter, sister, and mother. Susan’s most beloved role was being a mom to her two girls. She is survived by her daughter Katie O’Brien Brinkley and her husband, Greg; her daughter Haley O’Brien; her mother Erna Haynes, her sister Reny McGraw and her husband, Steve; and her brother Bill Haynes and his wife, Tonya. Susan’s warmth and joy also extended to her many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Susan never missed a birthday, graduation, wedding or other family celebration. She always had a gift in hand and a warm and caring spirit. Susan would gladly travel to get together with relatives and was the glue that kept the family connected. Susan’s love for her family included a passionate interest in researching and learning more about the Haynes family history and family tree. She brought many new members into the family circle.
The family will receive friends from 12-1pm prior to the service. A celebration of life for Susan will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia 30076. There will be a reception at the home of Reny McGraw following the service.
