Ruth Sanders

Mary Ruth Sanders, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 17th, 2023. Ruth was born on January 18th, 1940 in Forsyth County, GA. She was 83 years old.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Sanders of Alpharetta, GA; sister, Joyce Martin of Cumming, GA; children, Lovene Dieterle of Auburn, GA, Kenneth (Cheri) Chance of Cumming, GA, Donna (Doug) McGrath of Cumming, GA, and Greg Sanders of Alpharetta GA; grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica) Dieterle, Devan (Rachael) Dieterle, Tiffany (Stephen) Jones, Lydia (Lawson) George, Blake (Casey) McGrath, Naomi Chance, and Ethan (Claire Brink) Chance; great-grandchildren, Kynlie, Brayden, Blakely, Tessa, Emma, and Carter.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Naomi “Hattie” Cates; sister, Francis Free; brother, Doyle Cates; and daughter, Lydia Quick.

Throughout her life, Ruth was a loyal servant to the Lord and dedicated her life to his service. Much like her faith, her love for her family was steadfast, patient, warm, unwavering, and everlasting. There was no better woman to rely on for support and comfort, nor was there anyone that could compare when it came to her southern cooking. Ruth showed her love for those close to her in a variety of different ways: loving embraces, hot biscuits, surprise packages full of snacks, cooking lessons in her kitchen, a game of Miss Spider’s Tea Party, and freshly made cakes to name a few. Her legacy will continue to live on through her humor, including witty and lovingly crafted Facebook comments and posts, that gave everyone who read them a smile and a laugh. Butterflies were Ruth’s favorite, so now whenever one flutters by, everyone will know that she is near.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20th, 2023 from 1 pm to 3 pm at Roswell Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held following visitation at 3 pm at Green Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum with the Reverend Dean Ropp officiating.
