Mr. Robert ‘Bob’ Edward Hayes, age 73, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018. Bob was born on July 31, 1945 in Binghamton, New York, and raised in Cortland, New York, a son of the late Daniel Edward (Ted) Hayes and Helen Adelia Clark Hayes.
Bob lived an extraordinary life full of adventures, education, travel, professional success, and a beautiful legacy is left with many. Following his high school years at St Mary’s School in Cortland he earned a Bachelor's degree from Cortland State University. He then joined the United States Navy and bravely served our country as part of the Commander Seventh Fleet “Junior” Staff Communications Officers. He later went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Industrial Labor Relations from Cornell University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Albany State University.
Bob’s professional career was predominately spent with Xerox and The Telein Group. In his spare time he enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, tennis, skiing, water sports. Bob was a man of great faith and spiritual wisdom. He loved music, art and the theatre. A highlight of his life was getting to travel with his church choir to the Holy Land where he sang in Bethlehem and proposed to Sarah Keeling at Mount Sinai. Bob was a loving father, grandfather, brother, fiancé, and friend, all who knew and loved him will certainly miss him.
Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by one sister, Sherri Hayes and his brother-in-law, Walter DeMane.
He is survived by his four children, Gregory Charles Hayes of San Francisco, California; Tamara Allison Hayes and husband Craig Schmidt, of Olympia, Washington; Laurie Tullar Hosea, husband David, of Buford, Georgia; and Brian Lewis Tullar, wife Jessica of Flowery Branch, Georgia; and four grandchildren, Landon Hosea, Isabella Hosea, Clifton Tullar, and Harrison Tullar; three sisters, Priscilla Hayes DeMane, Jacquelyn Hayes Gailor and husband Jerry, and Carole Hayes Collier and husband Paul Wittjung; fiancé, Sarah Keeling; the Keeling family: Charles Keeling, wife Rocio Rico of Austin, Texas; Adam Keeling, wife Marla Torrado, of Austin, Texas; Stephanie Keeling Filer, husband Mark Filer of Seattle, Washington and two grandchildren Sophie Filer and Maryn Filer. Several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends also survive.
A Memorial Service to honor the life of Bob Hayes will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church in Johns Creek, Georgia.
