Larry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Susan; his son, Jimmy Phillips, and wife Laura; his daughter, Jennifer Barton and husband Mike; his brother Gary Phillips and wife Sylvia; and his grandchildren Parker Barton, Peyton Barton and Addison Phillips. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Bob Phillips, and mother, Dot Phillips, and two of his brothers, Don Phillips and Kenny Phillips.
Larry was born April 26, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Young Harris College in 1964 and went on to receive his BBA from the University of Georgia in 1966. He served in the United States Army as an officer from 1966 to 1969.
After the Army, Larry made Atlanta his permanent home and started his career at Colonial Foods. He led a very successful career in retail before retiring as a Regional Vice President for Office Depot in 2004.
After retiring, Larry and Susan moved to Big Canoe, GA where he was an active member of the Big Canoe Chapel. He was a member of the Board of Trustees and served on various committees. For those that knew Larry, besides his wife and family, he had two great passions, woodworking and travel. He graciously used his talents as a woodworker to build a cross that is placed in front of the Chapel and a custom closet for the Prayer Blanket Ministry. With their shared love of travel, Larry and Susan visited numerous places around the world.
