Mrs. June B. Jones, 84, of Alpharetta, passed away on Dec. 26, 2010. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Gail D. Jones; son, Craig Jones and his wife Mary Coleman, of Atlanta; daughter, Mickey Benn and her husband Doug, of Sandy Springs; daughter-in-law Carol Jones of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Davis and Fraser Jones, and Kelsey and Madeline Benn. June was born in Eastland, TX on October 12, 1926 and was raised in Cisco, TX. She graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in 1946, and she married Gail on July 26, 1947. She and Gail raised their family in Texas and North Carolina, and moved to Roswell in 1972. June had a deep and abiding faith and was a long time Sunday School teacher and active member of Roswell Presbyterian Church. She was one of the first women to be elected as an Elder of Roswell Presbyterian Church, and she also served two terms on the Board of Pensions for the Presbyerian Church (USA).
June was an accomplished artist and teacher in both needlework and china painting. She authored a book on needlework, owned and operated a needlework store, and was a founder of the Dogwood Chapter of the Embroiders Guild of America.
A Celebration of Life Service for June will be held 10:30 A.M., Wed., Dec. 29, 2010 at Roswell Presbyterian Church, 755 Mimosa Blvd., Roswell, GA 30075. A reception will be held following the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in June's remembrance to Roswell Presbyterian Church in support of their mission to Tumaini Bethany Children's Home of Nakuru, Kenya. Arrangements are entrusted to Roswell Funeral Home.
