Julie Ann Cooper (nee Cavallaro), passed away on Tuesday May 5th from complications during open heart surgery. She was born on August 26, 1942 in Washington D.C. and grew up in Pine Orchard (Branford) Connecticut. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, attend Barry University in Miami, Florida, and received her BFA from Boston University and her MFA from Long Island University. After her graduation from Boston University she worked with the USO and Special Services in Germany and traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East. She and her husband also traveled extensively in Latin America when they lived in Santiago, Chile. She worked closely with several adoption agencies, focusing on special needs and foreign born children, and assisted in over 90 adoptions. She was a gifted decorator, hostess, storyteller,and painter. Her art works were exhibited in shows in India, Cairo, Egypt, and she won several awards at a juried show at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Santiago, Chile.
Julie leaves a legacy of good will, generosity, and genuine concern for others. She was a successful real estate agent for over 30 years, as a member of the Million Dollar Club, most recently with Solid Source Realty in Roswell, Georgia. She was a member of of the St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Roswell, Georgia where she made her home for the past 24 years.
Julie is survived by her husband Wayne, son Jamison of Roswell, Georgia, daughter Claudia of Phoenix, Arizona, and daughter Pilar of Mount Laurel, New Jersey. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 11,2015 at 10:30 am at Saint Peter Chanel Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening at Roswell Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
