Jerry was born to Lola and Fred Purcell on February 16, 1935 in Toccoa, Georgia. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and son.
He graduated from Stephens County High School and went on to attend the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy and graduated in 1957. During his time at the University, he met the love of his life Reba and they were married in March of 1958. They went on to have 2 beautiful daughters, Melanie and Deana and lived in the metro Atlanta area. He was a proud alumni and an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.
Jerry owned the Twin Oaks Pharmacy in Avondale Estates for over 20 years, where he served his community proudly even going over and beyond for his patrons by hand delivering medications after-hours. He was a gentle, quiet man with a kind heart who loved his family and community dearly.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Reba NeSmith Purcell; daughters, Melanie Cox (Marc) and Deana Porter (Lewis); grandchildren, Nicholas and Cameron; great-granddaughter, Tatum; and sister, Billie Jean NeSmith (Ben).
