James Byron Rucker

James Byron Rucker, age 88, dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed to eternal life on September 27, 2017. He was born in Roswell, GA and moved to Ellijay, GA in 2005. He is predeceased by his parents, Jefferson Lafayette Rucker and Nancy Emily Reed Rucker and his older brother, Charles Reed Rucker. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Rita Gentry Rucker, his brother Wallace (Bill) Eugene Rucker of Boone NC, daughter Debbie Rucker, daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Rucker Clark and Phillip B Clark, and three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Byron was a longtime member of Roswell First Baptist and worshipped at Ellijay First Baptist Church.

Byron was a veteran of the food industry, having worked for White Provision Company, Canada Packers, and retired from Southeast Foods - Atalanta Corporation.

Byron was a founding member of the Roswell Jaycees and the Roswell Kiwanis. He was also a longtime member of the Roswell Masonic Lodge.

A celebration service will be held at the Roswell Funeral Home Chapel - 950 Mansell Rd. Roswell, Georgia on Wednesday October 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm and visitation at the Roswell Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 5-8 pm.

No public interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International, St Jude’s Childrens Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
